Fresh orange juice depends more on fruit quality and timing than on a long ingredient list. This version uses ripe oranges, extracts them without crushing the bitter white pith and is served immediately, while the aroma and suspended pulp are still fresh.

  2. Extract the juice

Squeeze the halves without crushing the white pith. Pass through a coarse sieve only to remove seeds, if desired.

Substitutions

Navel or Valencia oranges work, but sweetness and juice yield vary; taste the fruit before squeezing the full batch.

Storage

Keep covered and refrigerated immediately if not serving at once. Stir before pouring because natural pulp settles.

Approximate shelf life: Best immediately; refrigerate for no more than 24 hours.

Nutrition values are estimates and may vary by brand, substitution and actual yield.
